Guyana, South America

Posted on Thursday 9 February 2006

It’s after 2am and I really should be in bed, but since sleep has departed from me I thought I would write a bit.

In just a couple of hours we will be on our way again to Guyana, South America to spend twelve days with the Amerindians we have come to love so much. I will be blogging some when we get to Georgetown the capital city.

I think one way of knowing a touch of revival is in your heart is when you are excited about sleeping ten days on a cot in the middle of a jungle, thousands of miles away from home, and literally can’t wait to get there!

One new thing we are excited about we will be doing this trip is showing the Jesus Film in some villages that have never seen it before. God has used this little film produced by Campus Crusade for Christ to touch millions of people all over the world. Please pray for God to use this outreach to draw sinners and backsliders into right relationship with Jesus!

As with every trip, satan has unleashed a multitude of distractions to try to hinder our going; please pray for our safety, our health and for the favor of God to be on us as we travel these forgotten rivers to minister to a people time and the world may have forgotten, but God has not!

found your blog via david (your incredible son-in-law). interesting that you’re headed to guyana - that’s where my family’s missionary work began. my dad went with a friend in a cessna there back in the early 70’s and that got my dad hooked. i’ll definitely be praying for you and i’ll be back to read when you post here.

    give ‘em heaven down there.

Well its 9:02pm and you should be arriving at the hotel in georgetown….I just wanted to let you know that Robert & I are praying for the team/trip and tell Miriam that Estelle & I are holding down the fort. Tell the team that I miss them and look forward to seeing them soon maybe I can make the July or November trip. What an amazing time I had last November…..The bonds you form with the other team members/Amerindians and the amazing people you meet. When you leave each village you take something with you and you miss them. November was my first ever missions trip that I was blessed to go on and it changed my life. Your heart just cries out to these amazing people, once you get a taste of Guyana you want it again. There are nights when you close your eyes you see and smell Guyana that just will not go away. I prayed that the Lord would show me what TRUE worship was…..well I got a chance to experience TRUE worship with the Amerindians. they show you what TRUE worship really is, here in the states I believe people just ACT the way they do is just because the Pastor may see them or its what others are doing…..well come to Guayan if you really want to experience TRUE worship.

Well, have a blessed and safe trip……with everything that has been taking place with a few of the team members something amazing is going to take place on this trip and I can’t wait to hear and see what happens.

    God Bless
    Love In Christ
    Hannah
