Realization #2

Posted on Saturday 25 March 2006

Sorry, I didn’t mean to check out of the blogosphere again. This is the fourth week in a row with no Internet service and very limited cell phone service! Talk about a fast!

This week I have had the opportunity to reflect on several things in my own ministry that have needed help:

First, more that ever before, I realize I have not been called to be the spiritual police. Many times as an evangelist, we are called to come minister in churches that are under great spiritual stress and warfare. Most of it internal. I realized again this week I am not called to bring correction, I am called to preach the Word, and the Holy Spirit will do the correcting. I may be embarrassed to know how many times I have not been invited back because it took me too long to get it!

Second, I realize more than ever I need the Holy Ghost! Sorry to spook some of you, I also meant Holy Spirit:) I can’t get out of my mind a story a pastor friend told me recently.

A man with a very dynamic preaching gift was ministering one night when he asked his wife after the service ( as so many preachers do) how he did. She replied, “You’ve become so good, you don’t need the Holy Ghost any more!”

God help us to remember, we need the Holy Ghost to anoint us to do two things:

Connect

Communicate

We may be able to accomplish these two skills without Him….but nothing of eternal value will remain with those we are communicating with without His touch on our speaking!

It is good to see you are yielding to the Holy Spiriit by allowing Him to teach you as well as those you minister to. You are blessed and I am glad His anointing is with you.
