You are right! The minute we get comfortable enough doing something that we can do it automation like (i.e., brain dead and callous hearted), God pulls the rug out from under us and we have to tune our ears into the Holy Spirit again!

Wow Pentecostal churches built on alter calls are questioning them, while Rev.Schuller has one at the Crystal Cathedral? Things are already getting turned upside down.

I'm a pastor and would never say that! I don't know what they're thinking. I think it's symptomatic of us putting human intellect (or lack thereof) on the throne instead of God. We shouldn't use altar calls as a technique, nor should we avoid them as one. FWIW, I lean toward opening the altars for seeking or ministry but haven't often been moved to do a traditional altar call for salvation (like I responded to in a SBC years ago).

I also don't understand something else; I've had two different pastors (one in AL one in TN) tell me other pastors have told them "altar calls, or going to the altar is for weak minded people..."

what's up with that?

AMEN!

And I've been wondering quite a bit lately....

Why would spend so much time begging for Him to come...and when He (Holy Spirit) shows up, we won't let Him do what He came to do?

The Holy Ghost will always move from where he's tolerated to where he's celebrated.
