Weekend Update

Posted on Monday 23 April 2007

God is so good!

We had a great weekend in Moulton, Alabama at New Life Assembly. Pastor Shane and Chere’ Smith just returned from a Fine Arts Competition in Birmingham, Alabama with their youth and they are now going to the National Competition in August in Indianapolis! Congrats!

I, like Carl at Revival Blog, am seeing a new hunger among youth I haven’t seen. Maybe I’ve always seen it but to me IMHO it seems to be getting stronger! In services last week in Tennessee, the children and youth were the first one’s to respond to the altar calls…seems like Joel and Peter both had something to say about that!

I long for the day in which the conviction of the Holy Spirit comes so strong, even adults (pun intended) can’t resist His drawing!

That’s great news. Our’s just got back from the District Youth Convention, and were very disappointed. I was hoping for revival! Pray for our young folk if you have a choice.

If they are really hungry, God can do it right there! I’m not against Youth Camps and Youth Conventions; some of my fondest memories I have are of those AG camps and conventions I took youth to as a youth pastor! But it’s God’s will they give birth to revival fire right there in your local church! I am praying for them and you!

I can remember going to camps and conventions and taking whatever I could get and bringing it back to our church. As I look back at the revival that our youth group had, I realize that it definitely didn’t come from the camps or conventions that we went to. Though those were great experiences, the revival came from all of us falling on our faces and crying out for God. We would stay at church until we reached Him. One vibrant memory I have is of a concert that we went to in Macon, GA. On the ride home instead of laughing and joking, we started praying and a prayer meeting broke out that carried on until 2:30 AM. That was amazing!!! Those were some of the greatest times in my life. Please encourage your young people to just seek after Him and they will not be disappointed. I believe that God treasures every prayer by children and youth.
