A Great Awakening

Posted on Monday 30 April 2007

Another great weekend at New Life Beginnings Church in Pattison Texas. The Holy Spirit literally brooded over the services. Most everywhere we go we are seeing a renewed hunger for God’s Presence and His presence literally hovering over the congregation!

I was looking over some old notes the other day when I came across the definition of a Great Awakening.

-Commonly said to be periods of religious revival in American religious history. Great Awakenings appear to form a cycle with a period of approximately 80 years…

-A great awakening happens when social change renders traditional religion unable to answer questions posed by contemporary life. A certain disconnection occurs between religion and the real world. New belief systems attempt to fill the gap eventually leading to a full great awakening.

That is really what we are crying out to God for! An awakening that will cause our nation to return to our roots; faith in Jesus Christ and giving all Glory to the Father in heaven!

On the weekend of the 400th Anniversary of the first Pilgrims landinf at Jamestown Virginia, let’s pray God will accelerate another Great Awakening. We ARE DUE!!!!

Every awakening is great, but it would be nice to see a broad, deep, uncontainable revival here in America.

David I think we are already there. I was just at Chet’s blogand he was posting about the disconnect that many are feeling with the current American church. There was a comment by a young guy- Joe that had a lot valid things to say about his dissatisfaction with the current church, if you follow the link back to his site.

I believe that the Holy Spirit is creating a want and a need for greater relationship and real presence of God.

    Michael
