The Power of the Lord That Heals

Posted on Friday 13 July 2007

I was preparing to minister this week on healing at South Decatur Church of God in Decatur, Alabama when I thought I would Google the phrase “is healing for today?”

I found from that search the number one link at Google goes to a wiccan site out of Florida. A couple of Christian sites, one medical based site then of course the obvious cessational attempts to prove with scripture that God doesn’t do much of anything these days except sit in heaven and get mad at everybody here on earth!

Many of this circle of bloggers God is linking together have had discussions in the past about healing, revival and other subjects that are needed for today’s world; but the area that I believe would make the greatest impact in society is the restoration of the healing power of God!

I believe God wants to heal everyone! And He loves mankind so much and wants to get healing to us; He has allowed the increase/acceleration of medical technology to relieve the sufferings of mankind!

But even with the technology, there are some things only God can do!

I say we contend for the full restoration of the healing anointing that was paid fro by Jesus before He ever shed His Blood for our sins!

When a wicca site is the number one site in the Google world contending for healing, we know we are not where we need to be with God!

What’s it going to take to see the Power of the Lord present to heal?

    David,

This is one of those things that I think about often. Whenever Jesus healed someone, not only was it obvious to the person who was healed, but everyone in the crowd knew it also. There was never any doubt about the healing (unless a pharisee was nearby). The concern I have had for several years is that now whenever someone says they’ve been healed, nobody else can tell one way or the other. Im not doubting the healing, but I cant tell the difference. The person looks the same now as they did when they walked in. I would just like to see something obvious.

If someone tells us that God has healed their heart or kidneys, thats wonderful of course, but how would we know unless we all got to see the before and after x-rays?

I wonder what gives you the right to judge others in saying, “When a wicca site is the number one site in the Google world contending for healing, we know we are not where we need to be with God!” This is why so many people turn away from Christianity because most Christians stick their noses in to things and say that you cannot do this and be a Christian. What most are saying, “If Christians are going to judge and say I cannot be a Christians unless I do this or that, then why do I want to become one?” No matter what one’s faith is, freedom must be first priority. To have freedom one must have complete and total privacy. In this posting of yours, you have pushed more people away from Christianity then pull them in.

Blessed Be to Isis and you

    David,
I’d like to ask a favor from you. Please delete the comment from Brandon Frater Phoenix. It has an evil tenor about it, and I don’t think it should be allowed to find expression through your blog. If you decide to delete it, feel free to delete this one as well. I’m not trying to tell you what to do, this thing just stirs something in my spirit, and I felt the need to speak up.

    David,
I believe you are right on here. I feel that we are about to see a major shift into this area in the Kingdom. We will be moving away from the more “kooky” aspects that the charismatic faith has moved into in the last 30 years and refocusing on these visual, raw powerful sign-gift ministries again in the church.

As an ex-witch and one who God has healed in a dramatic fashion … I probably have an interesting perspective on this issue.

SLW - BFP, as an occultist, is going to have a definite mindset and worldview. I understand your sentiment, but if we so “sterilize” our environments we accomplish two things. First we lose touch with the people in the world, and then we lose the ability to be good witnesses.

As a pagan, I saw “healings” as a result of spells, reiki, etc. - most often so gradual that I openly questioned whether the work was doing any “real” good, or if it was a temporary/imaginary effect. NOT like I’ve seen God do - miraculous, instantaneous and obvious healing.

    Rodney…
When I was first saved, I was suffering from progressive hearing loss. God healed me completely of it, and I hear better than most people now. I also suffered my whole life with a genetic, progressive and painful joint condition and a genetic gastro disease (celiac) - within about a two-month period last fall, God healed me of both of them (to the point that when I went to see the specialist a few days later (to tell her what God had done) she nearly fainted. Then she discharged me. Everywhere I go (shopping, library, etc.) people who saw me before will stop me and ask, “Where’s your splints? How are you able to walk without your cane? What happened to you?” And I’m able to tell people of the goodness of God. I also saw new hip xrays about a month ago… “before” = arthritis visible to a layman’s eye, obviously something QUITE wrong. Now - they looked so normal, I started to cry in gratitude.

There’s a rather disjointed testimony of how God’s healed me on my blog (disjointed because I wrote it as it was happening!) … if you’re interested. :)

    Brandon,

I am not in any way judging; if anything, as a minister of the Gospel, I am calling the Church of Jesus Christ back to where she needs to be: at the forefront in producing healing to a hurting world!

You are free to worship anyone or anything you desire, it’s a free country. But I chose to KNOW Jesus Christ is the only way you can find eternal life. We may live in a time period where people believe there are no absolutes…Narcissism rules! but I believe differently: I believe there is only one God and His will is written in the Bible

“This is why so many people turn away from Christianity because most Christians stick their noses in to things and say that you cannot do this and be a Christian.”

One of the main reason people have turned away from Christianity is not your accusation, (sticking their noses…) but a lack of the genuine Power of God flowing through Christians lives and churches. The Bible makes it abundantly clear for people of God to stay away from witchcraft, sorcery, etc. In fact, you should be giving the one true God praise you didn’t live in Biblical times…you would probably be killed according to the Law of Moses! But when the new life from Jesus flows into your heart, you love all people and want then to find the same life you have found. But if you are a person who does not believe the Bible is the final authority for your life, I understand why you are lashing out at me. I am convinced BY THE BIBLE witchcraft is wrong and a true believer in Jesus doesn’t seek spells and reiki and good luck charms to find favor happiness and healing; it comes from a relationship with a loving God.

“What most are saying, “If Christians are going to judge and say I cannot be a Christians unless I do this or that, then why do I want to become one?”

Being a Christian is NOT adhearing to a list of do’s and don’t’s; it’s having and building a relationship with the one True God! When you fall in love with Him and His Word, all you want to do is please Him and Him alone!

“In this posting of yours, you have pushed more people away from Christianity then pull them in.”

I was not writing to unbelievers, or people who are seeking to know God: I was writing to people who know God, are leaders of churches and writing to people who are hungry to see the One True God show His might in this hour!

Oh Father, bring your true healing power through the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ!

You asked, what is it going to take…..? I believe it is going to take preachers who: LIVE what they preach and PREACH life and that more abundant. God is soverign and will use who He may. But I believe He is looking for PURE vessels preaching the UNCOMPROMISED Word of God.

Many preachers today won’t even preach on healing. When they do, it is purely from an acedemic standpoint. Until someone is truly healed and set free, themselves, they have no conviction or fervor in their message.

I still believe Jesus died for my sins and was tortured and beat for my healing. He is my Healer. At 7 years old, he instantly healed my hand that was sprained and swollen. At 15, He instantly healed my knee that was battered and swollen from an accident. In recent years, He healed me COMPLETELY of high blood pressure. The doctors said I would be on medication for the rest of my life. Today my BP= 115/75 and I do not take BP meds. PTL.
Proven testimonies of God’s healing power will stir the hearts of people to seek the Healer.

BTW, I agree w/slw about the comment.

I am responding to Rodney’s post back in july 2007. I am a christian who believe in healing also. I have experienced it in the past in 1997. I was healed of an inflamed tendon in my leg which was causing me severe pain. the pain had almost crippled me.
In 2006 I was dignosed with celiac and have developed major food alergies, arthritis and other problems as a result of it. I currently feel better when I do not eat then when I do.
I would love to know more of your past health situation, healing experience and how your doing now. Your testamony would be a great encoragement to me. Thank you
