As I watch a discussion take place within a major American Pentecostal denomination on whether or not tongues is the initial physical evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, Carl at Revival Blog has a post that places all the “tongues scriptures” in context and in one bundle. It would be a great outline to use for a message or a small group.
Check it out!
God help us to get back to the simplicity of accepting what the word says about the power of God and not our fear of spooking people away from church!

You know, here is the deal. When I read the Scriptures I see that not everyone immediately spoke in tongues when they got baptized in the Holy Ghost, some prophesied! Now, if the argument against tongues as the initial evidence went along the lines that another supernatural gift could be the initial evidence I would be more sympathetic.
But the reality is that the argument that is presented goes more along the lines that someone could receive the baptism as a second work of grace and yet there could be no evidence! This is unbiblical and an attempt for some to give license to their lack of fruit.
The Holy Ghost has not gone into hiding. He has not gotten tired. He has not retreated. He was not buried with the original Apostles. There are Apostles and Prophets living today and the Holy Ghost is for all who believe with accompanying signs and wonders!
I feel the preach coming on so I will end it there! lol
