Demonstration of the Holy Spirit

Posted on Sunday 22 June 2008

I was meeting with a group of pastors last week and talking about the passing of the mantle. This topic (like most others) has caused quite a bit of debate. But our American mindset won’t always allow us to grasp the significance of a subject with Middle Eastern roots.

A mantle according to Strongs is something wide; something ample; expand to be great.

The mantle signifies not only our call from God; the anointing to do what He has called us to do; it also signifies the authority to use that anointing!

T.L. Osborn said unless you can demonstrate the Gospel you are not fit to preach the Gospel! May God help us to pick up the mantle of the demonstration of the Gospel of Jesus!

1Co 2:1  And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
1Co 2:2  For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
1Co 2:3  And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
1Co 2:4  And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
1Co 2:5  That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Lord, send the demonstration of the Holy Ghost!!!!!!

David, The American church in particular is obviously in a time of leadership change where the giants of the past are passing on one by one. Actually I believe that there are all sort of unused mantles from the past that are going to be picked up and used once more by a bunch of young folks that God is preparing and now introducing.

It will be great to watch and help mature those coming on. Some of us old Calebs and Jacobs could find that our ministries are more effective later in life than earlier.
    Blessings,
    Michael
